The Secret Place of Thunder

This work weaves a tapestry with the thread's of John Lee's three passions: Psychology, Spirituality and Poetry.

Many ancient Christian texts are left out of the New Testament. These books are sometimes called the “secret” or “hidden” gospels. Most of these 2,000-year-old books were discovered in a cave near the Egyptian town of Nag Hammadi in 1945. Until now the general public has had little access to these mysterious texts. In The Secret Place of Thunder, John Lee selects and arranges passages that magnify the power and beauty of this once-buried wisdom.

“This compilation of beautiful, provocative sayings of the early Christian community astonished and exhilarated me. John Lee has given a great gift by making these texts more readily available to read and weigh for ourselves as poetry, as theology, as ancient wisdom.”

Brother Clark Berge, The Society of St. Francis, Little Portion Friary, New York

“John offers these passages to us as symbolic keys, which if reflected upon sincerely, may unlock the door to a deeper level of psychological and spiritual understanding.”

Robert Moore, Ph.D., Jungian Analyst, Prof. of Psychoanalysis, Culture and Spirituality, The Chicago Theological Seminary
